Through the window on an Autumn evening the warm glow from a beautiful interior has a cosiness all of its own. Our interior designer Annabel believes that lighting is the essential element in creating a warm and welcoming interior. "Create pools of light in a room, from a variety of sources, to mimic the dappled light and shade that you see in nature" she advises. We know you can succeed with our selection of lighting. Let’s take a look at the different ways you can light up your home.

Our table lamps come in many guises - slim turned-wood pedestal lights, such as the Fitzroy and Fairfax, with large or tiny shades, the chunky pottery Bloomsbury lamp or the antique stone effect Hanley lamps, and the delicate hand-blown glass of the Shaftesbury lamp, or the lead crystal ball Burlington lamp. Maybe you need a task light such as the Brompton or Milton desk lamps. The great thing is that we won't make you have the shade that is shown with - you can choose any shade and a wide selection of fabrics, from fine silk and printed linen to textured wool for the shade. More table and bedside lamps >

Lamps are more than sources of light. They should be unique, interesting and ornamental in their own right. Our new Neptune Lighting Studio in the Gallery Showroom is a great place to get inspiration, see the choices of shades and fabrics, and to get an idea of the sizes and colours for yourself. Come and visit - you'll see just how much choice there is.

Pendants let us play with the light in more ways than one, from the style of shade we choose to the height at which it's hung. And just as the popularity of spotlighted ceilings has grown, so has the need to transform the kitchen from a utilitarian space with two or three well-placed pendants. Place a single light, or a row of pendants above your kitchen work surface and / or dining table. Come to our showrooms to see our contemporary collection of pendant lights for a modern home. Choose from Tennyson and Byron painted metal pendants, Belgravia or Imperial nickel pendants, and the Hughes large double pendant with natural shades. More pendant lights >

When we think walls, we think paint, art, mirrors and maybe a clock. But what about lighting? Done properly, a wall light can become a piece of art in its own right. Slim and subtle, or scaled-up and statement-worthy, fabric-shade or metallic, adjustable or fixed – come to have a look at our selection in the showroom and see for yourself. More wall lights >

"The Christmas tradition that I love the best" says Annabel, "is introducing lots of sparkling light around the house - strings of Christmas lights draped around everything, candles in every possible place and tables covered in twinkling tealights." Our Gift Shop is already stocked high with Christmas lights - for inside and out - candle holders, tealights, seasonally scented candles and twinkling decorations. You will find unique and interesting ways to light up your home for the darkest season.

Autumn is now in full swing and winter is just around the corner. The evenings are getting darker and the nights longer. At this time of year we need to make our homes as cosy and welcoming as we can. We have very many more lamps and lights in our showrooms that you won't see on our website, so make sure you come and see the full selection for yourself. "There is no better way to make an instant improvement to a room than to light it better." So says Annabel!
