How to Care for Outdoor Wicker
Outdoor wicker furniture is woven from various branded synthetic fibres that are coloured, shaped and textured to look like natural cane-like materials such as rattan, bamboo, willow or reed. The finished weave is soft to touch, supple, tear resistant, colour-fast, and weather resistant. It is not affected by differences in temperature and is extremely hard-wearing. It is widely available in many attractive neutral shades from black to white.
All the furniture of this type that we sell at Holloways is woven onto aluminium frames. Aluminium cannot rust and therefore will not be affected by damp, or wet, weather conditions.
The only maintenance requirement is cleaning, once or twice a year. Use a non-foaming cleaning product - we can supply one - or a solution of warm water and mild soap, with a soft brush. With this care your furniture should look as good as new for many years. (Your furniture will stay cleaner if you store it inside in winter.)
You will find that our outdoor wicker furniture is perfect for inside too, in a conservatory or garden room. And it makes the best solution for comfortable seating and flexible dining in outdoor covered areas, such as a veranda, deck or gazebo.
Your cushions, too, are important. Most outdoor fabrics are resistant to sunlight and mildew, but should not be left outside for long periods and should always be brought in to dry if they get soaked.
